My brother going into Hearts FC on his stag weekend dressed as David Hasslehoff
Di stefano. A man forgotten as far as being a great is concerned. I'm not surprise S & G went straight for him. In my club alone, Manchester United there was Sir Matt Busby, Bobby Charlton, Denis Law, George Best and Paddy Crerand who would endorse that view. I have little doubt that certainty would be replicated throughout British clubs in general - and globally. I would chose 5 to form a group of the greatest ever: Di Stefano, Maradona, Messi, Ronaldo and Pele.
Greavsie could have stuck himself up front in that team
Mbappe? Haaland? Messi? Alisson? Salah? De Bruyne? I know you can't put everyone into a top 11 but they are all in the conversation
Jimmy Greaves what a humble gentleman, England finest goal striker would walk into any world xi. RiP 😎
There are so many combos of players these 2 legends could choose from.
Uncle used to come and collect me for football on the weekend, but not before this tv gold ended. Never realised at the time i would look back with so much nostalgia. Great intro and top presenters.
I’d love this as my ringtone! Anyone any idea where I could find it?
I remember watching this at the time, probably around 1998 World Cup time, loved these guys on TV, not bad strikers either 🙏
I’m trying to work out when this is. They talk about Cafu’s 4th World Cup-which would make it as late as 2006. Cafu’s debut was in 1990 after Italia 90 so possibly they are confused, but this would still make it as late as 2002. Had no idea they were still on tv at this point. Wikipedia says the programme finished in 1992.
There is no one today who could do a show like these two legends
Nobody.
What year is this from
Is this a later recording than when they finished their usual show in 1992? They definitely look and sound older here.
No mention of Baresi, Maldini, Platini, Zidane, Eusebio, Zico, Garrincha
Zidane?
The team was picked in the 80s
@@StGeorgeCross21 you sure? They look older here like 60 which would be circa 2000
@@DuderinoDeux The show ran from 1985 to 1992
@@StGeorgeCross21 but they were pundits up to end of the century!
7:10 we have the technology now Saint!
Quite funny how Greavsie gets tired and exasperated halfway through when it seemed to be his bit
Wonder who these two would have put in their current XI from the crop of players today? Given their admiration for both Cruyff & Maradona, one imagines they'd build their team around Messi..
'Big Lev' hahaha
Kenny Dalglish?!
What year was this I’m guessing very late 90s
80s i reckon
Just looked it only ran from 85 to 92
@@StGeorgeCross21they mentioned r9 so must be early 2000s I’d say
@@Eoghan__ It was the Brazilian Ronaldo they spoke about
@@StGeorgeCross21 yeah I know but he wasn’t around until the mid to late 90s
As Saint said -- and he wasn't joking -- Greavesie would not have been out of place as a World XI striker, alongside Marco Van Basten for me.
Amazing. Greavsie was right a all-time select X1 on computer game.
Fuck me … painful viewing.
R.I.P Ian St John & Jimmy Greavsie 2 of the Best Funny Football Commentators Ever.
I ❤ Love the Intro of Saint & Greavsie & I love the Saint & Geavsie Football Quiz Games which I’ve got at home & I got A few Photos of Ian St John & Jimmy Greavsie at Home on my Wall
Saints is a plonker.
This was a podcast before podcasts were podcasts….
Just smiling all the way through this. Absolutely wonderful together. Saint and Greavsie reminds me of being a kid who loved football. Wish I could have seen Jimmy play
Do you love the game now?
I can picture these two doing this up there now. Great characters, great memories. ❤
So funny even when they weren’t being funny. This is just 2 blokes chatting down the pub. Life was so much better back in this day. Freer. Just rolling along….RIP saint and Greavsie, great blokes
They died 6 months apart I guess they couldn’t live without each other
So they have picked 10 world class players and George Best.
Greavsie would have been at home in that team!
They were memories of Saturday afternoon
God, I loved this show.....simpler times.
Bobby Charlton GOAT. And no Maldini????.
It would be nice but we can't do that 😂Greavsie is England's greatest goalscorer in my opinion. Clough got to 200goals the fastest, would of been nice to see what he could of achieved as a player if he didn't get the career ending injury. Shearer was the best goalscorer when I was growing up and my favourite player. But Good Lord, such a hard thing to do, picking an All Time XI.
How come greavie mentions mk dons? Weren’t mk dons established way after this or am I being stupid?
I'd have had Didier Drogba as my centre-forward.
RIP Saint and Greavsie. Enjoyed their TV programme in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Sadly this was lost when football sold out to Sky and the Premier League. But that is a different story................ As for their "All-Time Best XI" it lacks one thing, a defensive / box-to-box midfield player. In the 1980s this role was fulfilled by Bryan Robson. Nowadays N'Golo Kante is the man for this job.
St John is as funny as a cancer diagnosis just after a wedding.
Piss off arrogant sod.
Quite right Jim, Bobby's smiling would put anyone off.
Garrincha was better than pele.
442. Banks Moore beckenbauer LB Maldini. RB Cafu. CM Messi maradona. LM Ronandinho. RM buck tooth Ronaldo C FORWARDS Pele Jimmy Greaves. SUBS Puscas/ Van Basten/GERD Muller/Ray Wilson/Zico /Xavi/Bobby Charlton/Dr Stefano/Best/Cruyff/Zidane/Iniesta/ Lother Matthaus/Barasi MANAGER Would have to be the enigmatic Brian Clough NOW CAN YOU IMAGINE THE TEAM TALK.NOW LISTEN LADS JUST GO OUT AND PLAY FOOTBALL HAHA
I wonder who they would pick today? Not sure it would change to massively.
When was this filmed because he mentioned MK Dons but surely this was filmed earlier...
Thanks pablo you were great for Ipswich
They put puskas in but not the man who stopped him- Billy Wright.
Stopped him when exactly, the 6-3 or the 7-1?
Four who did not get a mention, Duncan Edwards, Tom Finney, Stanley Matthews and the greatest of them all, John Charles.
@ Norman Giller - Four great shouts. Duncan Edwards should have been destined for great things, unfortunately he tragically lost his life in the Munich air crash.
You forgot the manager. There can only be 1. Mr. Clough!
Can’t believe they didn’t even mention Messi and Ronaldo:)
This was before those players' time.
